PhotobucketThis week’s Divorce Club featured book is M. Gary Neuman’s popular book, How to help your kids cope with divorce the Sandcastles way. It’s based on the Sandcastles program that is mandatory in over a dozen counties across the U.S. — a half-day workshop for children of divorce, aged 6 to 17, held by trained counselors.

What draws people to this book is its warmth, empathy, and sensitive approach to one of life’s most difficult situations. Neuman offers insights to how children of different ages react to divorce and how fighting parents affect their kids. It’s a fairly hefty read with 480 pages but it provides practical advice ranging from how to break the news of divorce to the kids to how to face the holidays and custody battles.
