In what might be one of the most expensive settlements in the world, the divorce proceedings between ex-Beatle Paul McCartney and former model Heather Mills are far from being concluded.

Observers predict this could also be the longest-running divorce.

McCartney, 65, and Mills, 40 are tussling over a financial settlement and custodial arrangements for their four-year-old daughter, Beatrice. The couple wed in Ireland in 2002.

Reports have said that Mills will settle for $100 million from the former Beatle, whose personal wealth is estimated at $1.7 billion. However, the settlement is still in a deadlock.

Mills is representing herself as she parted ways with her legal teams last November. It was claimed she could not afford the fees anymore. McCartney’s lawyer is Fiona Shackleton who represented Prince Charles against Princess Diana.

In the meantime, Mills has surprisingly kept a low profile after months of publicizing shocking accusations of spousal abuse. The most sensational accounts had to do an antique bedpan, drugs and a broken wine glass. Mills’ repeated rails against her ex in the media backfired and her publicist quit after this publicity debacle.

It is now up to the judge to decide on the fairest settlement to end the couple’s five-year marriage.
