More and more Americans are saying “I don’t”, rather than “I do”, in divorce ceremonies. You would think it’s a morbid concept but these quirky events are more about ending something for a new beginning.
Some choose to reminisce over happier times and ceremoniously declare, “With this ring, I unwed thee.” You read that right: there are divorce rings to symbolise the break up. For these ex-couples, they cite this as a way to end their relationship amicably and rid themselves of grief.
For those who haven’t quite become friends again with their ex-spouse, they throw bachelor or bachelorette-style parties to celebrate their newfound singlehood with friends and family.
